end o' book discussion

1. Comma Review continued

2. Share Tanka poems

3. Discuss end of book reading questions done for HW

HW: Read "Country  Lovers" for next class

For homework, I would like you come prepared with three discussion questions and answers over "Country Lovers." These  should be in your quarter two folder. Please have one of each type of question:
  • Right there question:  the answer is right in the text. ex: what happens to Grampa Chook?
  • Pulling it together question:  the answer is in the text, but the reader has to pull it together from different parts of the text. ex: what are some important lessons that Peekay has learned through his relationship with Doc?
  • Author and me question:  the answer is not in the text.  The reader must use the information provided in the text and his or her own knowledge/interpretation to figure out the answer.ex: Why do you think the author never tells us the names of Peekay’s mother or grandfather? For that matter, why don’t we ever learn Peekay’s real name?
